Installing the Drivers - Straight through USB Cable:

  1. Purchase a USB cable if you haven't already. Get one (and other cool stuff) here from eCity Wireless!
  2. Driver installation can be tricky. It's very important that you do not hook up the cable and phone to the computers USB port until after you've installed the correct software driver in the next step.
  3. Run the LGUSBModemDriver_Eng_Ver_4.5.exe in the root directory of the Super CD.
  4. Hook up cable and phone to a USB port on your computer (phone must be on)
  5. TheWindows New Hardware Wizard will start.
  6. If the wizard does not start did it ever start? meaning, if this isn't the first time you've hooked up the cable, the wizard may have ran and installed the driver already. If this is the case, the wizard won't run again.
  7. Normal operation. This is what you should see when installing the drivers.
  8. The first window asks if you want to connect to windows update to search for a driver.
Choose "no, not at this time" and click Next.

  9. The next Window will show that it's helping to install for a particular device. Depending on the model phone you have, the actual device listed may vary. Choose to Install the software automatically and click Next.

  10. You may receive the following message regarding windows logo testing, ignore and and click "Continue Anyway."

  11. The next screen shows that the wizard has completed. Click Finish.

  12. After you've completed that, depending on the model phone you have, the wizard may start up all over again automatically. This is normal. Just answer each prompt the same as above. The Wizard may run 3 times and install each of the following devices:
    1. LGE CDMA Composite USB Device
    2. LGE CDMA USB Modem
    3. LGE CDMA USB Serial Port
  13. Once the Wizard doesn't run anymore, the drivers have installed successfully.

If you have a card and can't see it as a removable drive... can you see it on the phone? If the phone doesn't see it, the cable and computer won't either. Alot of cards aren't compatible with the CU500. Sandisk is recommended.

If you have a working card check these settings on your phone.

You'll find a setting on the phone called connection (its number 7 under settings) then go to number 2 for USB connection mode. Choose number 1 for mass storage. It will show a check mark after you select it. You also have to turn off Bluetooth. You'll be able to see the drive then.

Synch Software:

Your SD card will show as a removable drive with this cable and drivers. You'll be able to transfer background images to the phone, copy your pictures from the phone to your computer and copy music to your computer etc. You won't be able to manage the phone book or calendar without the LG pcsynch software. That can be obtained from the LG website

If you have trouble setting this up, check the troubleshooting section on the first page.
